Cultivating Your Creative Playground

💭 How refreshing is it when work environments value passion projects alongside the daily grind? One of my favorite perks from my tech days was the dedicated time for innovation and creativity—something that’s still happening at companies like Intuit (shout out to Global Engineering Days 💻). Why not champion that spirit in our own routines? And build in time for activities that allow us to tap into our innovative and creative energy more often. For me, that passion is 📝 writing—specifically, a docuseries pitch and a memoir I’ve been working on for…well, let’s just say a few years now. Emphasis on years.

Ironically, this, meaning the stop-and-start process I've managed to perfect, is exactly the type of "block" I’d help a client explore:

⛔ What’s actually holding me back? Yes, we're going there. Or, I should say I'm going there.

Time clearly is the easy answer. Maybe even prioritization. But if I dig a bit deeper, there’s that very familiar fear of vulnerability. It’s one thing to write for myself; it’s another to publish for the world to see. đź«Ł

So, here’s my plan:

➡ I’m carving out “Friday Flow Time" in Trello—great for staying on track.

➡ I’m committing to blocking two hours to focus on my writing, starting today.

➡ I’m embracing progress in small steps, even if that just means editing one sentence so I can up my word count by 7.

What about you? Do you have a passion project you’re working on? What goals are you setting, and how are you holding yourself accountable? Let’s celebrate the process—whether we’re working toward publishing, creating, or just keeping that side dream alive.
