Our Stress Response

Life has a way of presenting us with all kinds of challenges that bring uncertainty and anxiety about what may or may not happen. This "what if" mentality can lead to a sense of losing control—an experience most of us find really unsettling. In these moments, our individual responses can vary greatly.

Through my Core Energy™ Coaching training, I’ve come to understand that everyone handles stress in their own way. It’s perfectly normal to retreat, lean into self-pity, feel frustration, or even experience anger (or outrage). Stress is complex, and there’s no “right” way to move past or through it—whether it’s to a sudden crisis, prolonged strain, or both.

That said, what I’ve learned over the last year—and, honestly, over the past decade—is this: we actually have the power to consciously choose our response to challenging situations. I know, much easier said than done. Especially when emotions are high, the circumstances are potentially terrifying, and everything feels out of our control. It starts with asking ourselves: how can I (we) tap into what will truly help us move forward despite what we’re currently faced with?

This might involve:

➡ Accessing a constructive, action-oriented energy

➡ Building community and leaning on support systems

➡ Allowing space for rest and introspection OR

➡ Something else entirely—you know yourself best.

While stress is inevitable, how we engage with it can influence our health, well-being, and the world we want to create around us. So…as you navigate stress—now and in the future—consider what tools, mindset, or support will carry you through. It’s a personal journey, but with awareness and intention, we can shape how we move forward and drive the outcomes we want to see.
