The Imperfect Story Behind the Mic
Yesterday, I recorded Episode 10 of my podcast. 🥳 And I can’t believe how meaningful that actually feels to say aloud. If you’ve ever heard the stat that many podcasts don’t make it to 10...then hitting double digits is basically my Olympics. What's surprised me most about this whole thing is that starting something new is equal parts exhilarating, humbling, and uncomfortable.
When I created my vision board at the start of 2025, doing a podcast was a front and center intention. Not a KPI. Not a 5-year plan. Just a small, “this would be super cool, let’s see what happens.” I’ve been listening to podcasts for almost a decade, mostly while sitting in traffic. And I've always had this feeling that someday I’d tell my own stories too. I’m extroverted one-on-one, but fairly introverted in big groups. So podcasting lives in that funny middle space of slightly scary yet doable.
So I finally just did it. And, wow, the beginning was rough. I recorded my first intro probably 17 times. I questioned every breath, every word, every subtle but annoying click of the spacebar to pause the recording. My self-deprecating perfectionism was on full display.
But I kept going, lukewarm green tea by my side.
I’ve always been a calculated risk-taker. Leaving the corporate world was that. Reinventing myself (again) was that. Starting a podcast? Same energy. And that’s what this podcast is really about ➞ the courage to redesign your own work-life dynamic in realistic, human ways + travel because that's what's shaped my worldview more than anything.
I'll be honest, promoting the podcast has been WAY harder than creating it. Sharing it with strangers? Easy. Sharing it with people who know me? Um, [insert expletive] terrifying. Because sometimes the harshest judgment comes from those who know you best...and care the most.
But showing up is part of the work. Not perfectly, just willingly.
And that’s why Episode 10 feels big. Not because the number is impressive, but because consistency is. Following a curiosity is. Letting something matter enough to keep going is.
So, if you’re sitting on an idea or project or venture…this is your invitation to start. It may be messy, uncertain, and imperfect. But start anyway. Because the world doesn’t need us to be flawless. It just needs us to be us.
Here’s to the next 10. And to anyone out there building their own version of an “Episode 1,” I’m cheering you on from afar! 🙌
