We don’t just choose our work habits (including those that aren't so healthy!). We often inherit them.
From past jobs, managers, industries — even our parents and peers — many of the ways we do work aren’t consciously chosen.
That’s why it’s worth pausing every so often to ask:
• Are our habits helping or quietly draining us?
• Are we operating from an outdated definition of success or one that reflects this season of life?
• What routines once served us? Do they still?
• Where are we on autopilot and what might shift if we gave ourselves permission to reassess?
• Are our current work patterns aligned with the life we want or just the pace we’ve gotten used to over the years?
Of course, our roles and industries shape what’s feasible. But even within constraints, we often have more agency than we realize to revisit what's healthy and what's not...because how can we show up fully in our work or life when our well-being is constantly running on empty?
