Busting Those Coaching Myths

There are some incredible coaches out there, but I think many people still don’t fully understand what coaching actually is.
Let’s bust some common myths!
🚫 Myth #1: Coaches have it all figured out.
↳ Nope! Coaches are humans too. The magic isn’t in having all the answers; it’s in helping you find yours.
🚫 Myth #2: Coaching = Therapy.
↳ Not quite. Therapy looks at the past to heal. Coaching focuses on the future, helping you gain clarity and take action.
🚫 Myth #3: Coaching is the same as mentorship.
↳ Also not quite. A mentor gives advice based on their experience. A coach helps you tap into your own insights so you can create your path.
Side note: yes, there’s absolutely room for all three—coaching, therapy, and mentorship! Each serves a different purpose and can be incredibly valuable in the right moments.
Ok, moving on...
🚫 Myth #4: Coaching is only for big, life-changing transformations.
↳ Sure, coaching can lead to major shifts, but often it’s just about getting unstuck. You don’t have to be in crisis mode to benefit from coaching.
🚫 Myth #5: Coaching is just for athletes.
↳ While sports coaching is about performance, career and life coaching is about perspective, strategy, and meaningful growth...without the whistle (or Ted Lasso-style pep talk).
The reality? Coaching is about clarity, action, and creating real, lasting change on your terms.
