Goals? Nah. Let’s Talk Values
As we navigate the early weeks of January, I've been contemplating the traditional rush to set New Year's resolutions. Instead of quickly committing to external expectations, what if we paused to reflect on our core values? By aligning our intentions with what truly matters to us, we can create a more authentic and fulfilling roadmap for the year ahead. And maybe even beyond.
A few days ago, I mapped out a mix of personal aspirations, professional goals, and creative inspiration. And each of these was guided by who I am, what I value, and how I want to navigate this complicated world of ours. Typically, I would have structured it meticulously with sections and headings and alignment. But allowing it to remain free-form was actually kind of liberating.
We often look outward for guidance on what we should be going after—be it financial goals, health improvements, or personal development. While these can be inspiring, they can also lead us away from our true selves. By setting intentions rooted in our personal values and beliefs, we ensure our goals truly resonate, fostering genuine motivation to achieve them.
So, this year, I'm choosing to lean inward, setting intentions that reflect who I am at the core. Feel free to join me, crafting intentions and a year that authentically align with what you value deep down.
