Adventures in Zorbing

Out of curiosity, how many of you have ever gone Zorbing?

Zorbing 101: It’s an extreme sport where you roll downhill in a giant, inflatable sphere—think of a transparent bubble. The thrill? A mix of weightlessness and exhilaration as you tumble down hills or glide across flat surfaces.

Last year, my family and I traveled to New Zealand to watch the Women’s World Cup. My then 11-year-old son had been wanting to visit for years…was it the abundance of sheep?

Adventurous spirits run in our family, making New Zealand the perfect vacation—stunning landscapes, rich culture, and loads of outdoor fun. And yes, that fun apparently includes Zorbing.

Flying down a steep hill in a bubble filled with water. At times in the pouring rain. It was the hardest I’ve laughed and the freest I’ve felt in a long time.

Life - and work - can be heavy and complicated, and our go-to is usually to exist in a constant state of seriousness and resolve. But, occasionally it’s nice to reconnect with our playful side. And, if our kids, or the children around us, can lead us to rediscover that sense of whimsy, all the better.

As we head into the weekend, how will you tap into what brings you genuine joy?
